The University of Limerick (UL) is a leading institution known for outstanding research and is based in the heart of Ireland. Formerly named Irish University of the Year  by The Sunday Times Good University Guide, UL has also been ranked as one of the top 100 Young Universities in the World by the Times Higher Education.

Limerick has developed into one of the top universities in Ireland since being founded in 1972 and provides unrivalled graduate employment rates, with the highest rate in all of Ireland. This is helped by its tremendous work placement programme, the largest of any university in Ireland, and the largest international exchange programme.

UL is ranked world number two for International Student Happiness. 94.5% of international students who studied at UL responded that they were happy with their study experience, placing UL second out of 199 institutions across the globe. These results are from the I-Graduate International Student Barometer, a global benchmark for the international student experience.

Other results from ISB included the UL International Office ranking number 1 out of 51 UK and Ireland universities. UL also scored highest for pre-arrival information for international students. Nationally, UL boasts the best access to and quality of accommodation, the best campus environment, the best multi-cultural learning environment, the best library, the best internet access on arrival, the best formal welcome and the best sports facilities.

In terms of rankings, UL is 426th in the QS World University Rankings 2024, 401–500th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 and, 86th in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023.

UL has also been awarded 5-star rankings for graduate employability, innovation and knowledge transfer, teaching, engagement, internationalisation and infrastructure by the QS Stars independent assessors.
